Daily Market Update (Equities)
The positive trend in the Nigerian Equities market continued in today’s trading session, as the benchmark index went up by 2.34% to cross 90,000 points and settle at 90,063.27 points. This trend was boosted by gains in DANGCEM, BUACEM, BUAFOODS, GEREGU and TRANSCORP despite losses incurred on DANGSUGAR, FBNH, UBA, STANBIC and GTCO. Consequently, the market’s year-to-date returns (YTD) rests at 20.45%.
Total Volume and Value traded both increased by 21.69% and 3.89% each to reach 1.30bn units and NGN16.38bn respectively. Today, JAPAULGOLD traded the highest in terms of Volume while NB traded the highest in terms of Value.
The top gainers in today’s trading session were AIICO, GUINNESS and WEMABANK while the top losers included RTBRISCOE, DANGSUGAR and NGXGROUP.
Daily Market Update (Fixed Income)
Today, the NT-bills secondary market traded silently, as the average yield remained at 3.28%. However, the FGN Bond market closed negative as the average yield went up by 0.25% to 13.53%. Overall, the Naira Fixed Income market ended on a negative note as average yield increased by 0.13% to settle at 8.40%.
