Daily Market Update (Equities)
The Nigerian Equities market started the week on a negative note, as it posted a 0.04% decline to 104,518.14 points in today’s trading session. This is following losses in BUA CEMENT, NESTLE, DANGSUGAR and NASCON offsetting gains in GTCO, ZENITH BANK, FBNH and UBA. Consequently, the market’s year-to-date (YtD) returns fell to 39.78% from Thursday’s 39.84% YtD.
Today, total Volume and Value traded fell by 8.43% and 10.78% each to 545.49mn units and NGN14.61bn respectively. GTCO traded the highest in terms of both Volume and Value.
Top losers for the day were JBERGER, ABCTRANS and ROYALEX, while the top gainers were MAYBAKER, IKEJAHOTEL and CHAMS.
Daily Market Update (Fixed Income)
Today, the NT-bills secondary market closed on a positive note, as the average yield fell marginally by 0.01% to 17.65%. Similarly, the secondary FGN Bond market performed positively as the average yield fell by 0.09% to 19.33%. Overall, the average yield in the Naira Fixed Income market fell by 0.05% to settle at 18.49%.
